I was inspired by the bright colors of the mandarin oranges at the local market. I set them up as a still life at home, photographed them and chose my favorite to paint. As part of an exercise for art class, I used only the three secondary colors: orange, purple and green. I focused on a loose style, emphasizing the color and juiciness of the oranges and highlighting the shadows in a bold purple.
